Could use more features. Not high quality

The weave isn’t very tight, and doesn’t have any lining or over all structure, making the pockets and sweater hard to zip. It’s not comparable to civil aviation or NATO style airmen sweaters. No canvas of reinforcing for shoulder harness ware and tear. No elbow canvas for reinforcing. No backing or structure for wings, and no shoulder epaulet clasps. No pen pockets or place to display a ID. Basically it’s just a sweater and doesn’t help in anyway in the cockpit environment. Probably costs $10 to make and we’re kind of a forced captured audience that has to buy.

SIZING BAD -WARNING

I USUALLY WEAR A LARGE... 210 5'11" AND FOR SOME ILLOGICAL REASON M&H MAKES THE L = XL OR XXL - BUT SIZES THEM HAS A LARGE.... IT IS WAAAY TOO BIG FOR A LARGE.... THIS IS A BIG LET DOWN AS WE ARE REQUIRED TO DO BUSINESS WITHT HIS COMPANY - YET FOR MAIL ORDER, THERE SIZNG IS WAY OFF... WHICH IS FRUSTRATING AND A REALLY BIG WASTE ... -BY THE WAY THE FOR THIS QUALITY (& SIZING) THIS SWEATER IS OVER PRICED - NOT AS NICE AS PREVIOUS SWEATERS...AND THE POCKETS ARE SET TO WIDE TO BE USEFUL AND THE COLLAR IS TOO LOW.... OUR MANAGEMENT IS VERY STRICT ABOUT UNIFORMS YET WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS KIND OF PRODUCT

Not Unisex

Originally this sweater was listed under the “Male” category. When I inquired about a female version I was told there wasn’t one and to order the men’s in a smaller size. When I went back to order (about a week later) the sweater was now called “unisex”. I ordered an xs and an xxs (my usual size is a medium) and both were too large and shapeless. I’m 5’10” and even the xxs hung below my rear and is completely straight, not curved at all. This sweater is NOT unisex.

Not quite as good as the Twinn Hill

This sweater is good but it lacks a bit from the earlier Twin Hill model. The collar is not as high as before so the neck is not as protected. That higher collar really gave the earlier sweater a touch of style. The weave is not as tight so it does not block drafts or wind as well. The front zipper is now in the right orientation. The earlier version of the M&H had you zipping with your left hand and that was just weird. On the other hand, the Twin Hill sweater zipped from the top AND the bottom...I never did figure out what that was about. The zippers on the pockets are tight and hard to move. You almost need two hands to zip/unzip the pockets. The one real weak point of this new sweater is that there is no backing fabric for the mounting of wings. If you just pin to the sweater itself, I suspect you will eventually create holes in the sweater where the pins penetrate. The Twin Hill sweater had a nice thick piece of fabric inside the breast that was attached with essentially button hole stitching (like on our pilot shirts) to re-enforce the garment at the wing attachment point. I ended up cutting a small piece of black felt and stitched it in myself.

All in all, this is not a bad sweater. It's well made and if they fix the wing attachment issue it will be pretty functional right out of the box. I don't think it will elicit the complements the Twin Hill unit did as it does lack the "cool" factor of the higher collar. On the other hand, I don't miss the epaulette holders.
